Teacher Bio Curriculum Homework

Mr. Scott

I am a 6th grade Physical Science teacher in my 12th year of teaching math and sciences. I graduated from the University of St. Thomas, but grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota. I have resided in Minnesota for 25 years. I am married and have two children. I've taught at MIMS for 5 years. I have found that the students and parents here are amazing!  I look forward to working with your children in the 2017-2018 school year.

The sixth grade curriculum focuses on the physical sciences, including the study of topics related to physics and chemistry. The properties of matter, physical and chemical changes of matter, forces, motion, energy, and energy transfer are introduced. As a part of this course, students will also have an opportunity to apply their knowledge regarding physics concepts to one or more engineering design projects.

The current standards we are working on are listed below and the rubrics involved in Unit III are attached. Identify the forces acting on an object and describe how the sum of the forces affects the motion of the object. For example: Forces acting on a book on a table or a car on the road. Recognize that some forces between objects act when the objects are in direct contact and others, such as magnetic, electrical and gravitational forces can act from a distance.
